3000 Njord

Design by Scaffidi & Johansen

From an ergonomic and aesthetic point of view, Njord is real eye candy: the unusual combination of the materials wood and polyester felt not only defines a new comfort level, this armchair adds pizzazz to waiting rooms, upmarket restaurants and hotels, or in home interiors – suited for all environments where high-quality seating has a special status. Both designers Antonio Scaffidi and Mads K. Johansen (†) not only attached great importance to a resource-saving use of materials, they also wanted to create a graceful, straight design complemented and underlined by soft, organic shapes. The outcome: either a beech or oak frame is combined with a curvaceous, light seat shell made of anthracite-grey polyester felt into a harmonious unity, reflecting the designers’ Scandinavian roots. The seat shell snugly moulds to the body – optionally available with an upholstered seat pad – is extremely stable and yet flexible. With these attributes, Njord is as comfortable as an armchair, weighing a mere 4.5 kg, and as easy to handle as a side chair. The frame is also stacking.
