Embla

Embla
Visually light and lively, the Embla chair is made entirely of beech wood and characterised by soft lines with clear-cut edges. It takes up little space but offers enormous possibilities for interior arrangement. It can be found in office spaces, waiting rooms, cafés, and canteens. Together with a matching table from the same line, it creates a harmonious duo.
“It was my intention to design a wooden chair to complement the Njord and Arn series.” This is how Antonio Scaffidi, writes about his work. Embla is an extension of the cycle designed as a reference to Norse mythology. According to Norse mythology, Embla was a tree which, after it was discovered by three deities, became one of the first people to walk the Earth.

Embla by Antonio Scaffidi
“Embla is a chair which balances a contemporary presence and at the same time is rooted in the band’s history and tradition. It underlines wood as the very foundation of Kusch+Co. It is a beautiful and natural grown material with unique characteristics and a warm and tactile appearance. Wood requires and expresses craftsmanship like no other material. The dominance of wood implicitly favors a range of finishes and stains that are carefully matched to the design, making expression even more adaptable to spatial contexts.“
