Uwe Sommerlade

Uwe Sommerlade
As the son of a civil engineer, he began designing his first houses and objects in his childhood. In his grandfather’s carpentry, he learned early on how to handle wood. After his graduation and the completion of his carpenter’s apprenticeship, he studied design in Kassel. In 1992, he co-founded the company Lepper Schmidt Sommerlade. Since then, he has developed many acclaimed products for leading companies.
"Design must go beyond the mere creation of external appearance. It is committed to function and people. In addition to the unconditional formal quality of the product, the constructive side of the development process is of great importance. The goal of my work is clear products that are fun to use, become a lasting pleasure, and invite pleasurable handling and use."
